How we reduce our environmental footprint.
Grounds maintenance has a footprint: fuel, green waste, water and materials. This is how we reduce ours, and where the work is not finished.

What changes outdoors
Battery-powered tools
Battery equipment has progressively replaced petrol tools across our operation, cutting fuel use, exhaust and noise on site.
Green waste recovered
Green waste is mulched rather than sent to landfill.
Recycled bark mulch
We recommend recycled bark mulch over stone or pebble, even where a specification calls for stone. It holds moisture, improves the soil, and the planting lives longer.
Water used carefully
Irrigation checks and scheduling catch leaks, blockages and overwatering early, so less water is wasted and plants are not lost to dry zones.
Local supply
Plant stock, soil, mulch and fertilisers come mostly from local, family-owned Queensland businesses, which keeps transport distances short.
Fewer kilometres
GPS route optimisation across the fleet means fewer kilometres driven for the same number of site visits.

The numbers, and the targets
- 73.3 per cent of waste diverted from landfill in FY26, audited independently on a regular basis. The target is 75 per cent by 2027.
- A net exporter of solar energy. Our Albion head office exports more clean energy to the grid across the year than it draws.
- Net zero operational emissions by 2035. Vehicle movement is the largest remaining source of emissions for a business that visits hundreds of sites, and the fleet transition is the biggest obstacle between us and that target. We say so.
- Green Building Council of Australia member, which keeps us close to the Green Star standard many of our commercial clients build to.
- Sustainability training for every employee, so the practices on this page are understood by the people carrying them out.
