How we apply the principles of the Modern Slavery Act.
The Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) does not require a statement from a business our size. Almost every tender and committee asks about it anyway, so here is our answer on the public record.
our position
Everyone in our supply chain deserves dignity and fair treatment.
Modern slavery covers forced labour, child labour, domestic servitude, bonded labour and human trafficking. We will not knowingly do business with anyone engaged in it, or knowingly allow it in our supply chain. Our Modern Slavery Policy applies to everyone who works for Advance Plants and Advance Landscapes, including contractors, and it shapes who we buy from.

What that looks like in practice
Local operations
We operate only in South East Queensland, with no interstate or international operations. Our team is 100 per cent Queensland based.
Direct employment
We employ our crews directly, permanently wherever we can. Subcontractors are used only for specialist irrigation and arborist work.
Pay reviewed yearly
Pay and conditions are reviewed at least once a year for everyone, to meet or exceed the National Employment Standards and the relevant award.
Named overseas inputs
Plants, soil, mulch and fertilisers come mostly from local family businesses. The main overseas-made items we buy are power equipment and vehicles.
Risk assessed
Geographic risk is assessed against recognised international indices. We favour suppliers who publish their own modern slavery reporting, and we check it.
Suppliers screened
Major suppliers are screened for adverse media relating to human exploitation, and we encourage key suppliers to develop policies of their own.
if a risk surfaces
What we would do
It depends on what we find. It may mean talking to the supplier, talking to clients or others affected, referring the matter to the authorities, or considering what remediation is owed to the people involved. We are not aware of modern slavery practices anywhere in our supply chain.
Our Modern Slavery Policy was last reviewed in September 2026 and is next due for review in September 2028. It is approved by our Director, Robert Shand.
